For those looking for a central, accessible neighborhood where they can live and experience things like arts and culture, sporting events, concerts, dining and more, consider Downtown, Pearl District, Riverwalk, Brookside, or the Eastside. From coffee shops to nightlife to shopping and music venues, there’s always something happening just a short walk away.
Head to River Parks to soak up the beauty of the Arkansas River and for easy access to water recreation and trails right near your backyard. Jump to the Westside to be steps away from the terrain of Turkey Mountain or head over to green space surrounding Southern Hills. Follow the river north to Maple Ridge and the Gathering Place or continue up toward the rolling grasses of Gilcrease Hills.
For a more spacious, residential location with greenery and walkability, check out Tulsa Hills, Kendall-Whittier, Florence Park, Owen Park, The Heights, or Dunbar. Here you’ll find wide-ranging styles of homes, speckled with parks, community spaces, and urban amenities.

Oklahoma is home to the most diverse terrain per square mile in the United States. Right in Tulsa or in a short drive, you can experience rolling hills and forests, teeming lakes and rivers, red rock formations, the wonders of great plains, and more.
I have a three year old son and that has been really good for him and for our family to be here. We are able to afford a bigger place to live. We have a backyard to play in. Some of these things we couldn't afford in California have been easy to do here in Tulsa.
Moving to Tulsa for me and her, our blood pressures went down because we are not stressed out anymore. We’re doing things. We’re enjoying things. We're breathing better air, we're going out walking. We are experiencing life. So that has really taken a toll on me and my health. I'm just a healthier person because I'm able to relax, take a deep breath. And my wife being happy does wonders for me too.
When I first moved, I thought, what did I get myself into? I immediately was very worried and very scared, but I found my tribe. I found people that, finally, were like me. Getting to know Tulsa better, really allowed me to understand that every notion that I had of Tulsa was wrong.
Tulsa gave me the opportunity to slow down and enjoy my life. I have been able to find my passions outside of work, connect with a real community, and enjoy time with my family. I even purchased my first home as a single woman of color under the age of 30. Tulsa has improved my life tenfold!
If you had asked me to point out Oklahoma, let alone Tulsa, on a map three years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. Fast forward to today and, while my geography hasn’t much improved, I can not only point out Oklahoma on a map, I live there.
